Unchained

I break now the chains you held on me
And free you of the love you refused to see
You can go back to being what you used to be
Before the first time I watched you ride to victory
I'll take back the heart you never wanted
And leave you to live your life undaunted
No one will ever know - They can only guess
Why my feelings for you caused us both distress
You kept your cool and played the game well
For so many years keeping me under your spell
We may both have regrets, one can never tell
My absence should at least the rumors dispell
But as one last time I leave you, all that remains
Is one not-so-shining knight and a heart unchained
